A wholesale food company was searching for a product that could help stabilize and protect product loads as well as add stacking strength. Not knowing where to turnn, the wholesaler turned to IPS Packaging. Lucky for them, IPS Packaging had just the advice they needed! A trained packaging specialist at IPS suggested using cornerboard.
- Improper placement of cornerboard
- Shipping and handling damages
- Usage of inverted cornerboard
- Stronger compression strength
- Decreases product damages
Adding cornerboard to the inside corners of a carton significantly adds strength to the carton, lending for a more secured package that is less likely to experience shipping and handling damages. Placing cornerboard in the corners of the carton also increases stacking strength.
For enhanced protection against compression, add cornerboard in the same manner, but this time, invert the cornerboard. Inverting the cornerboard also allows for a greater margin of error regarding the neatness of the stacked cartons. Compression strength of cartons is the strongest when all of the cartons are perfectly aligned: corner on top of corner.
Cornerboard can also be used as a spacer. Placing cornerboard in the corners of cartons and boxes greatly decreases the chances of products damage from forklift punctures.
