Problem: A southwest facility needed to randomly seal various size cases of eggs, but didn't want the expense of a fully automatic random case sealer.
Solution: We developed a machine that recognized a limited number of case sizes and pneumatically lowered the tape head to seal that size carton. The cartons were identified with the flaps in the up position by photo eye sensors and the head automatically adjusted to that box height for precision sealing at a rate of up to eight cases per minute. Each machine was constructed to the customer's specific box range with customers typically having four to five box sizes.
The egg industry is experiencing explosive growth with some facilities showing 25%+ growth rates over 2002. The case sealer is also an excellent solution for customers needing to randomly seal a limited number of cases but who don't want the expense of a fully automatic machine.
