What makes a strong packaging solution? An obvious answer might be effectively getting a product from point A to point B - but that is a rather ambiguous answer. There are a number of factors that play into achieving this goal. For instance, a package needs to be able to protect the product during all parts of the shipping and unloading process. Depending on who is handling the package and what is contained within it, the precautions that need to be taken can change dramatically.

Another element to consider is who will be interacting with the product. A bulk shipment of machine parts is far different than a package that contains a single electronic. In this sense, it is also important to understand who the customer will be when it comes to using a package.

Finally, price is something that is necessary to consider. While a shipping company would like to have all the capital in the world to make a package that can meet all of these needs, the harsh reality is that budgets will always be something to consider. For this reason, it is necessary to develop solutions that make fiscal sense as well.

A number of companies throughout the world have been looking to improve the ways that businesses package and distribute goods, which will likely lead to strong innovations in the coming years.

Innovations to be on display

In February, the international packaging conference, NEC, will begin. On display will be numerous companies that are looking to find optimal solutions that address these various issues. In doing so, these companies look to make the packaging industry as a whole more functional, inexpensive and for many, environmentally friendly.

Packaging News will be covering the conference and has reported on the various ways that companies in the industry will be looking to do so. For instance, one company will be instituting two new materials involving compostable pulp and paper to make their products more affordable and sustainable.

Another company that the news source covered was a box company that has developed a machine that can produce containers ideal for the luxury drink industry. By offering numerous decorative options such as film lamination and embossing, customers that use this solution will be able to provide a better presentation to their client base.

Pack Expo concludes

This new conference will begin just be months after the Pack Expo which took place in late September of this year in Las Vegas. The event featured many different solutions from a variety of industries. So much so that the conference featured three innovation stages to show some of the more cutting edge developments that were on display, according to Packaging Strategies.

As the industry, and the economy as a whole, continues to grow and develop, the need for companies to tackle and address these issues will likely grow. Ultimately, finding a strong packaging solution takes an in-depth knowledge of the industry in which it will operate. Once these needs are understood, companies can go forth in finding packaging solutions to fit their desires.
