Pre-stretched film is plastic film that has been stretched close it the ultimate breaking point before it’s wound onto a core. To stretch the film, manufacturers place the film on two rollers. One of the rollers will rotate faster and pull the film from the other roller to elongate it. Once the film has been stretched to the proper amount, it’s fed through the system and rewound onto a new core. Overall, the weight of the finished roll is lighter than traditional film, which makes it easier to work with. This process of stretching the film is what gives it unique qualities compared to traditional stretch wrap.
